Howydybrook FAQs
This is where we answer the questions that are frequently asked.
What’s the pet policy?
-
We welcome well-behaved dogs at the cabin.
-
We allow a max of two dogs per reservation.
-
There is a pet fee to cover the additional cleaning that comes with hosting four-legged guests.
-
Guests are responsible for any damages caused by their dogs.
-
Guests with pets are expected to clean up after their pets both indoors and outdoors.
-
Guests assume full liability for any injuries or damage caused by their pets.
Considerations:
-
Make sure your pet is up-to-date with their flea and tick treatment. The grass can be long, should your bud pick up an extra buddy you want to make sure they’re protected.
-
We strongly advise that you bring a kennel and crate your dog if you leave them alone at the cabin. Though your dog is well behaved at home, this is a new space and they may act differently. It’s a good way to mitigate possible damage.
What's the capacity and sleeping situation?
The cabin capacity is 4-5. The cabin sleeps 4 comfortably. It can sleep 5 less comfortably. It can sleep 6 uncomfortably, and we wouldn’t recommend it.

-
The main floor has a bedroom with a queen bed.
-
The loft has a bedroom with a queen bed.
-
There is a twin-size cot that can be set up in the main floor bedroom or in the loft rec nook. When we say cot, we’re not talking primitive camp bed. It’s a mattress + mattress pad on a frame. But it folds up and it’s not a permanent fixture with a dedicated space.
-
There is a CordaRoy beanbag in the loft rec nook that converts into a queen size mattress. When set up, it takes up a good bit of space in the loft and reduces the shared aspect of this space.
Do I need to bring toiletries?
We provide the basics - shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. You should bring anything else you’ll need.
Do I need to bring drinking water?
Depends. We drink the water from the tap, but it is well water which some people do not enjoy.

We’ve stayed at many places in Hocking Hills where the water is sulfuric and smelly. Luckily - that’s not the case at our cabin. We have a water softener and filter and we do not notice a difference between the water quality here and in the city.
How far away is the cabin from necessities/grocery?
-
Young’s Family Market is in Laurelville and only 11 minutes away from the cabin. We’ve found almost every grocery item we’ve needed there.
-
Kroger (big grocery store with a Starbucks) is 23 minutes away in Logan.
-
Walmart (grocery + everything else) is 23 minutes away in Logan.
Can I work remote from the cabin? How is the internet?
Yes! We’ve spent many days working remote from the cabin. However, there is not a dedicated workspace.

We have StarLink satellite internet. The internet speeds are good enough to support dialing in to video meetings. Satellite internet has come a long way, but it’s still not quite what we’re used to in the city. Expect a little more latency and a little more variation in the connection speeds. Heavy rain or snow will impact signal.
